Homeowners Prepare for Lighting Technology Changes
Ashley Skarda, owner of Heritage Lighting in Cedarburg, changes the bulb in a 1930's cylinder buffet lamp from a traditional tungsten to a compact florescent bulb.
The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse was founded in 1998 as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charitable organization by Nance Kinney, a breast cancer survivor. Its mission is to support breast and prostate cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The 2010 Showhouse and supporting events realized $315,000 and our Showhouse's contributions to the Medical College of Wisconsin in 13 years total over $4.1 million. Promising breast and prostate cancer research by past recipients of WBCS grants has led to over $12 million in additional extramural research grants awarded to the Medical College of Wisconsin by the National Institutes of Health and other foundations.
We were so greatly honored to be recognized as a resource for 2011. We look forward to years ahead!
Forbes Magazine
In 2011, Forbes Magazine named Cedarburg one of America’s 11 prettiest communities. Cedarburg is renowned as a favorite small town getaway. Shop, dine, stay! Cedarburg was chosen using input from Frommer’s and Rough Guides travel experts, in addition to Midwest Living magazine. This is according to John Giuffo, author. “We looked for places that offer not only aesthetic bounty, but memorable activities and destinations nearby.” The unranked list includes such wonderful destinations as Montpelier, Vermont, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Cooperstown, New York, and Sonoma, California. Wow! What an honor, our community pride is busting at the seams!
